Established in 1962. The first Dean was Vasily O. Bondarenko, Candidate of Sciences in Economics, Assistant Professor.

Under the auspices of the faculty the Siberian Railway Industry Certification Centre for Economic Staff of Railways was organized. It provides training and certifying examinations for finance and economic staff in the railway industry to confer the titles of Chief Accountant, Financial Director and Expense Control Manager.

38.03.02 «Management»:
profile – Production management.
Admission to study for bachelor's programs is on a competitive basis by results of unified state exam: mathematics, Russian language and social studies.
- for master's programmes:
38.04.01 the direction of «Economics»:
master program:
• Economy of firms and branch markets;
• Financial, management accounting and taxation;
• Accounting and legal support business.
38.04.02 the direction of «Management»:
master program:
• Production management;
• International management (in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland)
The faculty trains economists and economists-managers.
Main research-and-production trends:
• economics, planning and organization of labor and payments
• enterprise financial management, accounting and audit
• comprehensive economic analysis of enterprise financial and economic activity
The faculty comprises four departments:
• Economy of Transport
• Transport Management
• Accounting, Bookkeeping and Audit in the Railway Industry
• Higher Mathematics
Among the faculty staff are 7 Doctors of Sciences, Professors and 38 Candidates of Sciences, Assistant Professors. Most of the teaching staff of the departments has international certificates in Economics, Corporate Finance, Accounting and Audit.
About 7,500 specialists have graduated from the faculty.
Department annually produces about 130 managers and economists. Over 55 years of engineering-economic faculty has graduated over 7,500 specialists.
